Early Christmas morning,
Just as the sun was rising,
I heard three sets of footsteps,
Sneaking ‘round the room below.
Oh, Christmas morning!
My heart is ever warming
When I recall the love that binds
Our hearts together so.
Down the hall on tiptoe,
I peek around the corner
And spy three boys, like puppies,
Sniffing ‘round the Christmas tree.
Oh, Christmas morning!
My heart is ever warming
When I recall the love that flows
Between my boys and me.
Upon my face a scowl I paint
And from my throat a bellow roars,
“How dare you boys awake me
From my well and hard-earned rest?”
Oh, Christmas morning!
My heart is ever warming
When I recall the love we share,
Those memories are the best!
Three shining faces smile at me.
Not even one believes my wrath.
Instead, they hold a gift toward me,
And my act crumbles fast.
Oh, Christmas morning!
My heart is ever warming
When I recall the love we share,
A love time won’t outlast.
